Symbols are representations of ideas or concepts. The Reiki symbols are figures usually drawn with a movement of the hand to focus on an intention and to access the divine energy. Similarly, we can refer to the the use of symbols in different religions such the Christogram -sign for blessing in the Eastern Orthodox church-; the prana mudra used in Hinduism and Buddhism as a symbol of healing, and the cross in the Roman Catholic church amongst many others.
