What is Reiki?

Origin and applications

Amongst different cultures, it has been known through the ages that there exists vital energy that flows through all living things. This vital energy, when flowing freely through the chakras, helps to maintain a balance in the different aspects that compose a being (emotional, physical body, mind).

Although a most ancient technique, Reiki was re-discovered in the early 1900s by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist monk during a 21-day mystical experience on Mount Kurama, near Kyoto.

Through channeling universal life-force energy, Reiki reduces stress as well as physical and emotional pain, detoxifies, promotes relaxation and harmony, clears the mind and revitalizes the spirit. It is a completely non-invasive technique, as a matter of fact, physical contact is not necessary. Energy is channeled through the practitioner's hands and it responds to the practitioner's intentions.

Reiki is a wonderful complement to allopathic treatments. Patients receiving Reiki will respond to any medical treatments much more effectively.

Healing, chakra balancing and space clearing

A Reiki Master can channel the energy to heal him/herself, to treat any illness, stress or pain in the physical, emotional and  mental planes of a person. The channelled energy will restore balance to the energy centres (chakras) and/or unblock them to allow for a free flow of energy which will result in a harmonious state of health and happiness. Reiki can be used on plants and animals, and it works very well for clearing spaces and energizing food and water (which some people might call blessing or saying grace).
